High-Curcumin Lakadong Turmeric: The Golden Superfood, Explained

Among India's many turmeric-growing regions, Lakadong in Meghalaya has built a reputation as one of the highest

curcumin-content varieties commercially grown in the country — earning it the nickname "the golden superfood" in

farming and trade circles.

What makes it exceptional

The Jaintia Hills' soil and climate conditions are unusually well suited to turmeric cultivation, producing rhizomes

with a deeper colour, stronger aroma, and a curcumin percentage that consistently tests higher than turmeric grown in

most other parts of India.

From hillside to your kitchen

We source Lakadong turmeric directly from farmer collectives in the region, and every batch goes through the same

five-stage process described in our "From Farm to Jar" journey — sourced, cleaned

and processed, quality-checked, packed, and delivered — with curcumin content tested at the quality-check stage before

anything is packaged.
